BBBS Quinte Ribfest 2011
One could join in the rib-rageous fun that the Big Brothers Big Sisters of Hastings and Prince Edward Counties offered through their fifth Ribfest. It was held over an August weekend with all proceeds being used to support programs and services which benefit young people in our community. In addition to a beautiful waterfront setting at West Zwick's Park in Belleville, there were some of the best Ribbers in the world just waiting to serve their mouth watering ribs, pulled pork and chicken! One could even taste-test their sauces at the Investors Group Sauce Tasting Tent, then cast your vote for the best ribs of 2011! This year they welcomed Blazin BBQ - Paincourt, Camp 31 - Alabama, Hawg's Gone Wild - Daytona Beach, Florida, Thirsty Cactus - Dundas, Jack the Ribber - London, Ontario, Horn Dawgs Smokin BBQ - Oshawa, Crabby's BBQ Shack - London, Ontario and Billy Bones BBQ - Port Colborne. Ribfest is more than just ribs! Food lovers could also enjoy piping hot fries, hamburgers, hot dogs, slow roasted corn and yams, funnel cakes, ice cream, blooming onions, lemonade and much more! If eating didn't keep you busy enough, they also had a Kidz Zone to keep the little ones amused and musical entertainment all weekend long!
