Kollage Visits Centennial SS
Centennial Secondary School Jazz Orchestra hosted a concert May 28th with special guests Archie Alleyne and Kollage. Kollage was created in 2000 to preserve the era of hard-bop and its importance to the creative development of jazz composition. This sextet performs at Canadian jazz festivals, at Toronto’s jazz venues and received the National Jazz Award in 2004 for ‘Acoustic Group of the Year’. Centennial's Jazz Orchestra has performed with many of Canada’s most respected jazz musicians including: Guido Basso, Phil Nimmons, The Barry Elmes Quintet, Alex Dean and The Tara Davidson Quartet, Chase Sanborn and Russ Little. Each year the guest artists are blown away by the ability of the students and the amazing quality and energy of their performances.
